Nature publishes a monograph on research in the EU

On the eve of the European Union’s parliamentary elections, a special issue of Nature examines the prospects for science across the region.
It includes an infographic which explores the research investment and scientific output of the european countries and a study on how the EU is developing its research programme Horizon 2020.
Other parts of this issue deal with the EU’s controversial plans to boost its spending on defense research, the potential for european model of science policy and governance to become more influential around the world in the decade ahead, and the views of nine leading Europeans on the future priorities for science.
